They Have This But I Don't

Have a boyfriend by 19,

date until 23,

be engaged by 24,

married at 25,

have my first baby at 26.

This was my dream love timeline up until…. last year.

Being in your early 20s or 20s in general is so crazy,

Some friends are married with kids,

Some already have their dream job,

A handful are still not graduated from College (that’s me),

You may have a friend that's getting proposed to soon,

And lastly,

You may question if it’s still okay to act wild and free (the answer is yes).

Today i’m going to keep it short and sweet because I feel like I can’t be the only one that has officially decided to throw away the “love timeline”.

I will be 23 in September,

I have no boyfriend,

nor a potential boyfriend,

And if you asked me today if I see myself engaged in 2 years my answer would be:

I hope not.

I recently heard a TikTok that explained the “selfish twenties”.

It mentioned how we should invest these years into ourselves, because we are the most permanent thing in our lives.

Travel, find your purpose, work on your mental and physical health, have FUN, get your money, spoil yourself, and

STOP COMPARING YOUR LIFE TO OTHERS.

I used to stress to my mom about me having one year to find “the one”.

It seems so silly but I know I can’t be the only person that thought everything had to go as planned.

Now,

Would I be mad if in three years I stumble across the potential “one”???

No, but I hope that it’s in Puerto Rico during my traveling spree with my girls.

To wrap up our little timeline rant,

I hope you know that you are NOT the only one stressed, confused, or lost in what it is that we are supposed to do, or where we are supposed to be.

I have decided to put my full trust in God because I promise

he was probably laughing at my timeline.

Everything will come at its own perfect time, and while we wait go grab your girls and TRAVEL, GET THAT BAG, APPLY FOR THAT INTERNSHIP, LAUNCH THAT BUSINESS, DO WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL THE HAPPIEST.
