Forgive But Never Forget

Hi Gorgeous!

I want you to think about that hard day.

That hard moment where you thought you just couldn’t do it anymore.

That there was no way you would make it past that time.

Well guess what,

You are reading this, which could only mean one thing.

You are ALIVE

You made it

It was hard

and it wasn’t quick

But,

you made it.

Today I want to talk about forgiving but not forgetting.

Now, whoever it is you have or had to forgive just know there isn’t a perfect time to do so.

In today's world there are so many scary things and sometimes it feels like you can’t even go pump gas by yourself.

Having a big heart has backfired on me multiple times. I like to believe that no one means harm, I like to believe that I can be safe in every situation, and I like to believe that all friends are meant to last forever.

There have been times in my life that I couldn’t believe certain things happened.

Why me?

Did I cause it?

What if?

These are thoughts that might sound familiar to you or

they may be a little too familiar.

I want to share some things that I have learned along the way of my journey.

First, I know you don't want to hear it but,

You have to forgive them and most importantly you have to forgive yourself.

If anyone ever tells you that this step is easy, they are lying. However, it is the step that will lift so much emotions from your gorgeous heart.

Next, is to not look back.

When I say this I do not mean you can never reflect on those hard times but, I want you to think about driving.

Imagine yourself driving to your dream vacation.

You are on your way to the happiest place, but

while you are driving down the road you decide to turn your head back.

It would be hard to stay in the lane going forward if you're facing backwards, right?

This is what I mean by not looking back.

It happened, you didn’t deserve it, it wasn’t your fault, you survived, you will never forget how much you’ve grown, but now it’s time to stop trying to live in that exact moment again.

This will eat you up every single time because our minds are our WORST enemy!

Lastly,

I want to take things a little deeper.

I often caught myself blaming God for many situations in my life. I stopped praying, I stopped going to church, and I stopped believing there was more to myself.

God does not cause every bad situation you find yourself in BUT he will use every situation.

It takes time to really believe this but once you do, it is a game changer. I promise.

The people who have hurt you,

that person you thought would be your friend forever?

Yeah those,

Forgive them, let go, not for them but for yourself.

It sucks that people walk out, and it sucks that sometimes you are the one that has to leave but trusting that not everyone is meant to stay through every season is key.

Some people are meant to come and go but they all come with a lesson.

Good or bad, it is up to you on how you use it.

Now,

The never forgetting.

You will never forget a situation but now you have learned and grown so much from it. You learned new red flags to look for, you learned new boundaries, you learned a new side of yourself. This is the beauty that comes from never forgetting.

No matter what situation you thought about while reading this, just know you are never alone.

So many of us think we are the only ones going through this but in reality there are so many of us probably going through the same thing.

To wrap this up,

I truly hope you enjoyed this and even if you take away one word from this I pray that it helps you.

Before you go, repeat after me.

I am strong.

I am deserving.

I am not my mistake.

I am one of a kind.

I was created for a purpose.

I am gorgeous.

Until next time,

Elizabeth
